Flow Meter Calibration
Ensures precise flow measurement for reliable operations and billing.
Ensures precise flow measurement for reliable operations and billing.
Meet regulatory and audit requirements with UKAS traceable calibration.
Identify issues early and avoid unexpected system failures.
Accurate measurement helps prevent product loss and revenue leakage.
BMS has calibrated all brands of flow meters for decades across a wide range of industries. Our experienced engineers compare each meter with reference equipment or a proving vessel that has been tested to UKAS traceable standards.
The most representative results are normally obtained on-site under the meter’s usual operating conditions. Test results are recorded and fully traceable calibration certificates are issued, providing the evidence required for audits and helping identify potential problems before they result in meter failure.
We calibrate flow meters from all major manufacturers, including piston, rotary vane, turbine, nutating disc and electronic meters used for fuel, oil, water and other liquid applications.
Our equipment covers applications from large reference meters operating at up to 3,850 litres per minute to small piston meters operating at 1 litre per minute. We also use 5, 10 and 20 litre volumetric proving cans and a 50 litre proving vessel where required.

Flow meter calibration compares a client’s meter with a reference meter or proving vessel that has been tested by an appropriate third party to UKAS traceable standards. The comparison identifies any measurement error so the meter can be adjusted or the correction recorded.
UKAS traceable calibration uses reference equipment with an unbroken, documented chain of calibration back to standards recognised by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service. BMS records the test results and issues a traceable certificate for audit and compliance purposes.
Regular calibration protects billing accuracy, stock control and environmental reporting while helping identify wear before a meter fails. The appropriate interval depends on the application and audit requirements, but is commonly between quarterly and annually.
The most representative calibration results are normally achieved on-site under the meter’s usual operating conditions. Our engineers bring traceable test equipment to your premises, reducing disruption and allowing the complete installation to be assessed.
