    Parker-Meggitt F383 / F384 / F386 / F393 Line Mounted Shut Off Valves

Low pressure drop 3″ and 4″ shut off valves that stop bottom loading automatically when a tanker compartment is full, with controls kept outside the compartment for easy maintenance.

    • 3″ (F383 / F386) and 4″ (F384 / F393) sizes
    • ASA 150 lb flanged or Victaulic ends
    • Float pilot or jet level sensor control
    • Lightweight aluminium – from 6.3 kg (13.9 lb)
    Description

Overfilling a compartment during bottom loading is one of the costliest mistakes a fuel depot or refueller operator can make. The Parker-Meggitt F383, F384, F386, and F393 line-mounted shut-off valves prevent it by closing the loading line as soon as the compartment’s level control signals it is full, so flow stops without relying on the operator to react in time.

The four models split by bore size and control method. The F383 (3″) and F384 (4″) are set up for a float type pilot valve, operated by either air or fuel. The F386 (3″) and F393 (4″) work with a jet level sensor instead, which weighs only around 0.18 kg (0.4 lb) – considerably lighter than a float pilot. The servo controls are the same across both bore sizes, which keeps spares and servicing simple on a mixed fleet.

The valves are designed to fail safe. If a signal line is broken or damaged, no pressure signal reaches the main valve and flow stops, rather than loading continuing without protection. Nothing moves inside the compartment itself: the level control’s working parts sit outside it, so routine maintenance can be carried out without entering or draining the tank.

Inside the valve, the piston runs on PTFE (Teflon) seals to reduce friction and extend service life, and the flow path is designed for a low pressure drop so loading rates aren’t held back. The standard body is aluminium, weighing approximately 6.3 kg (13.9 lb) for the 3″ valves and 12.9 kg (28.5 lb) for the 4″ valves. Ductile iron bodies are available as a special order.

Aluminium versions can be supplied with ASA 150 lb flanges, Victaulic ends, or one of each, to suit the pipework on your vehicle or gantry. When ordering, quote the full part number including any modification letter – the BMS team can help you confirm the right valve, pilot and end connections for your installation and supply a quote.
